The Sea Of Stars Maldives: Amazing Facts You Need To Know

The Sea of Stars Maldives is becoming more and more popular among tourists visiting the Indian Ocean island paradise, and it’s not hard to see why: its name may have something to do with it! But if you’re still trying to figure out whether or not the Sea of Stars at the Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives is worth all the hype, we’ve put together this list of 9 amazing facts about the Sea of Stars Maldives that will hopefully make up your mind one way or another.

1. Where is it located?

Anantara Veli

The best way to get to watch the Sea of Stars Maldives is by seaplane from the airport which is located on a small island. What you will not find is any cars or traffic, rather just bicycles. There are only 6 eco-resorts here, the first one being so remote it took me a few minutes and some clever maneuvering to realize I had arrived.

From that point on it was all smooth sailing and snorkeling from top-notch resorts. The most impressive one by far has to be Anantara Veli – an ultra-modern spa and resort boasting infinity pools and superb food. And oh yeah, you can see stars at night because they are so clear and bright!

2. When can you visit to watch the Sea of Stars Maldives?

You can visit to watch the Sea of Stars Maldives anytime between October and April. The event only lasts for a few days so you have to plan if you want to come during that time.

There are great sites online where you can book a tour before going there, but beware that they cost more and it is hard to get accommodation there because most rooms are booked up.

One-day tours are also available but this will just allow you some time to walk around on the island and enjoy the view, instead of being able to see the stars on your own.

3. How do you reach?

To get to the nearest hotel from the airport, either take a taxi or get a speedboat. Speedboats take about 20 minutes and cost around 120RMB (USD 19). Take note that if you are considering taking a speedboat, it is advised that you book at least 24 hours in advance for this trip. At this point, it might be easier for you to go by taxi.

Taking a taxi will cost 400-500 RMB depending on the area that you are going to stay in. Remember, most hotels will pick up their customers from the airport so they can charge an additional fee if they need to transport people there and back. Therefore, be prepared with extra cash just in case!

4. What are the facilities available?

windsurfing

The facilities available on the island include a selection of restaurants and bars, as well as swimming pools and jacuzzis. There is also a jetty for excursions and sightseeing trips. A range of water sports is offered at no extra charge with windsurfing, kayaking, snorkeling, and diving among them.

Visitors can watch the Sea of Stars Maldives during the day or evening in one of three designated observation areas when they arrive or take a walking tour of the islands if they choose not to stay overnight.

Most visitors book day tours rather than staying overnight, but some rooms are available for families should you want to escape for longer than just a day.

5. Where can you stay nearby?

Island Inn Hotel

Hotels are found all over the island, so you won’t be too far from the sights. The Westin Resort and Spa is a well-known luxury resort. It features an 18-hole golf course and many restaurants and lounges. For a more affordable stay, there is the Island Inn Hotel.
