Tirunelveli is the municipality district in the Indian state of Tamilnadu. Local people call it Nellai. Tinnevelly is the name of the city during British rule. Its twin Palayamkottai is the Oxford of South India holding many schools and colleges. Here is an antique town found more than 2000 years ago. The pride of Tamilnadu Veerapandiya ruled the city before the British. Roadways and railways are the most accessible modes of transport here.

It is also the education hub of southern India. It is the sixth-largest municipal corporation next to significant districts. Nellaiappar Temple

The temple before seven hundred years ago. It holds the Golden lily tank, which has a thousand pillars. In this, each post carved beautifully and well decorated. Kalakkadu Wildlife Sanctuary
