The Hirakud Dam

The beautiful dam constructed across the Mahanadi River is the longest man-made dams in the country. This massive architectural wonder was built in the year 1956, and it irrigates 7,500,000 hectares of land. Serving as one of the most serene viewed dams ever, you can get a good look at Gandhi and Nehru Minarets from the dam. Surrounded with clear water and quaint atmosphere is located near Budharaja Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The Lingaraj Temple

The historical temple dedicated to Lord Shiva traces back to 7th century. The ancient temple was constructed by the King Jajati Keshari and the sacred Linga present here, is said to have appeared naturally. The Odissi style of architecture of the temple along with the massive holy Linga of 8 inches above the ground are something that makes the temple so famous. There is also another temple dedicated to Goddess Bhagawati located near the main shrine. The Bindu Sarovar

The spectacular water tank is also known as the Bindu Sagar and is believed to be not only a great tourist spot because of the scenic views that it serves btu also the place is considered to be very holy by the Hindu worshippers. Tourists will find many temples located near the tank and the famous temple of Lingaraj is also located close to the holy water tank. As per the legend the water that is present in the wate tank is very holy and is very important religious site as each drop in the tank is from one of the most holy rivers flowing in the country.

The Rajarani Temple

This architectural ancient temple traces back to the 11th-century and is also famous known as love temple. The temple does not trace to any particular religion and is open to all the tourists irrespective of their religion.
