The Nohsngithiang Falls

The beautiful waterfalls are one of the tallest in India and located very close to the Mawsmai village of the Shillong District. The waterfall is covered with greenery, limestone covered hills, pure nature’s beauty surrounding the falls, refreshing atmosphere and the view of crystal-clear glittering water is some main attractive things you will find here. The waterfall is also called as the Seven Sister and beauty of the region is surely to be enjoyed.

The Umiam Lake

The manmade lake is indeed splendid and the serene views it provides is appreciated by many tourists out there. The beautiful lake was a dam which was built to generate hydroelectric power and now is turned to a beautiful lake for sure. The lake covers and area of 222 square kilometres and many nature lovers visit the place to admire its beauty. The mesmerizing reservoir looks absolutely stunning during the sunrise and it serves as a great picnic spot in the region.

The Shillong peak

The astounding peak is located at the height of 6449 ft above the sea level and is famous for providing a great view of the entire city, its waterfalls, other mountain ranges and the small valleys. The peak is also very much famous among trekkers who love this landscape. The Shillong peak is located at air force base and thus you would be not allowed to take camera here. However, the beautiful sights are just so memorable that you don’t need cameras for sure. The peak is mostly surrounded with heavy fog especially during winters so it might be hard to get a good look of the region but the peaceful atmosphere is surely enjoyable.

The Police Bazar

The huge Bazar is a renowned market of Shillong, and is highly visited by tourists who love shopping. From the rich traditional handicraft’s stores, to the famous jewellery in Meghalaya, everything and anything will be here. Also, tourists just love the local food stalls and restaurants to try out the yummy snacks made here. The colourful market has an extensive collection of shops that sells both traditional and modern things you will find here. Many roads here do not allow vehicles for you to shop comfortably and as this market is huge, you can spend a day buying things and trying out different cuisines.
