The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

There huge sanctuary is the second largest wildlife sanctuary in the state and is renowned for its beauty and n number is species found here. The wildlife sanctuary has many species of flora and fauna and many is home to many endangered species. The wildlife sanctuary was established back in 1973 and is one of the well-maintained protected areas for several species to live comfortable in the dense forests. The sanctuary is also a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve which and covers an area of 345 square km.

The Edakkal Caves

The pre-historic caves are 96 feet long and is believed to trace back to 5000BC to 1000BC as many carvings and inscriptions found here are from that period. The caves are from the Neolithic era and the late stone age and for tourists, it might take around 45 minutes to reach the mouth of the cave by trekking. Nature lovers and trekkers get easily attracted to the place and the naturally formed caves has 2 levels. The rock walls having carvings of animal figures, humans and a glimpse of how humans survived during the period is clearly seen here.

The Soochipara Falls

The spectacular waterfalls are around 200 metres high and is indeed serving a breath-taking view. The waterfall is three-tiered and is surrounded by the evergreen forests, huge trees, many bushes and green carpet portraying the true beauty of nature. This waterfall is also known as the Sentinel Rock Waterfalls tourists can also enjoy rock climbing here.
