Kondaveedu

Located 17 miles from Guntur City the glorious fort was built during 14th century AD. During the Reddy kings reign there was 21 marvellous structures built in the fort and now this place is perfect for sight-seeing, beautiful structures and trekking. There are several historical temples and residential structures built near this fort which blends so well with the breath-taking nature that surrounds the area. At the foot of the hillock there is the Gopinath temple and Kathulabave which attracts many tourists every year.

Kotappakonda

Located nearly 25 miles from the city of Guntur the place is also know as three-peaked hill whereas the original name of the city is Kondakavuru. However nowadays it is more popularly known as Kotappakonda or Trikutaparvatam and is completely surrounded by other hills. The three peaks have their name set from Hindu mythology namely Vishnu, Brahma and Maheswara. There is one more well-constructed and maintained caves present here in our list and that is Guthikonda Cave which is opt for tourists’ exploration and also you should not miss going to Someswara Swamy Temple. The beautiful temple lies in the city of Sitanagaram which is 16 miles North East of the city.

Bhattiprolu

This small village is mainly known for its Buddhist stupa and is built about 3rd-2nd century BCE. It is a centrally protected monument of national importance and is to date visited by so many tourists because of the mind-blowing evacuations made here. Being an ancient Buddhist town, the village plays a vital role in history and many devotees visit her for admiring the Buddhist Stupa. The earliest evidence of Brahmi script was found here making it a very renowned place in southern port of India.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam and the Ethipothala Falls

The massive irrigation project is located on the River Krishna. If you go about 100 miles from Guntur City, this dam which was a valley in the Nallamala range is found. The construction of the Nagarjuna Sagar Dam took place between 1955 and 1967. The dam submerged a massive historical Buddhist settlement known as Nagarhunakonda which was lively in the 1st and 2nd centuries. Around 30 Buddhist monasteries were found along with inscriptions and sculptures of historical importance. Some of these artworks are now present in Nagarjunakonda island which is in the centre of the reservoir whereas some of them are present in a nearby village Anupu.
